Of all the cool things to blog about, why would I choose the "not quite dull and boring" ones?
During Covid, I reconnected by social media with an old college buddy I hadn’t seen for years. We figured out how to video chat, and had enough fun that we decided to schedule a weekly virtual visit. We were both working remotely, and found sheltering at home a good switch up from our previously hectic lives. As the world started busying back up, we found ourselves missing dull and boring. We made lists of what dull and boring things we might accomplish (Yes, a nap can be an accomplishment) and shared them with each other.
After a few months of dull and boring, my friend apologetically
confessed that she was getting tired of that lifestyle. She wasn’t interested in going back to the
unrelenting frenzy of our pre-covid days, but she wanted to branch out from
doing laundry and deleting old emails to something not quite so dull and
boring. We set out to make new lists of things we could think of that were “not
quite” dull and boring, held some
interest for us, and were relaxing. She invited a friend to join her for Friday Night “martinis
and snacks” (not dinner-just appetizers) at a local country club. I took
the step of visiting my hybrid book club in person instead of participating
remotely. We found that we liked not
quite dull and boring so much, we began to wonder if we could use it for a
travel model.
Where did we go and how did we entertain ourselves? Stay tuned and find out in my next episode of Nor Quite Dull and Boring.
